FIREFIGHTERS managed to save three Seddon houses last week from a fire that gutted a disused Buckley St property.

Police closed part of Buckley St to traffic after fire tore through the property around 2pm last Tuesday.

The fire destroyed the premises, which had been empty for some time. No people were in the building at the time of the fire.

MFB western zone commander Ken Brown said the place had been used as a squat, with firefighters finding syringes at the scene.

The fire has been deemed suspicious. Police are investigating.
