Anne Harrison is pleased with Rodney’s win.

RODNEY the Romney ram was crowned Supreme Romney exhibit at the Australian Sheep and Wool Show in Bendigo last weekend.

Rodney, show name Ellenbank Rodney, is one of two principal rams at David and Anne Harrison’s Ellenbank Stud in Garfield.

David and Anne are both involved in the Pakenham Show, with David being acting president and Anne a superintendent of the sheep pavilion.

To prepare for the show - the biggest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere – Rodney was preened and pampered for about five months. “There is a fair bit of perpetrating in their fleece. He was shedded for the last four months and in the last four or five weeks he didn’t go out,” Mrs Harrison said.

The 2011 Pakenham Show, the show’s centenary, will be held on 19 March.

Schedules should be available in January.
