WE’VE had St Jeromes and the Yarraville and Seddon Festivals, now it’s time to celebrate the municipality’s pets.

Footscray Park is the place to be for dog, cat, bird and any other pet owners on Sunday 14 March for the council’s 2010 pet expo.

There will be canine demonstrations, a butterfly enclosure, pony rides, a reptile show and dog lure coursing, plus stalls to promote responsible pet ownership, pet registration, microchipping and health education.

All dogs and cats over three months old must be registered each year by 10 April and must be implanted with a microchip that can be scanned to gather information about the owner’s contact details.

The Lost Dog’s Home will also offer half-price microchipping ($25) on the day.

The expo will run from 10am until 2pm.

For more information call the council on 9688 0200 or visit the website www.maribyrnong.vic.gov .au
