WYNDHAM’S multicultural diversity is set to cast a colourful shadow over the city this weekend.

The Weerama Festival will feature back-to-back performances while offering a smorgasbord of delicacies from around the globe and stalls selling unique hand crafted items.

Festival committee member Kathy Brunton said close to 18 cultural groups were gearing up to showcase their dancers from Ireland to India.

The display will be held in the Bird Cage pavilion on 14 March from 11am until 5pm.

Chinese tea and Ethiopian coffee can be sampled from noon.

Karen hand weaving loom and Tongan weaving will be shown between noon until 4pm.

The Weerama Festival is being staged for the first time at the Werribee Racecourse despite the track undergoing major reconstruction.

For more information, phone the festival director on 8734 5447 or visit the website at www.weerama.org.au
