THE Berwick branch of Probus has welcomed a new president, Ken Coleman.

Mr Coleman aims to encourage younger members to join the group as many of the elderly members have trouble participating in activities.

“The big concern we have is our ageing members…A lot of our members are ageing and we need more younger members of 55 years and up,” said Mr Coleman.

Probus offers a variety of activities so that almost anyone can find something to enjoy whether it be the prominent speakers at meetings, bus trips, golf, walking groups, gardening or bridge. “It is for retirees so they can get some enjoyment when they retire,” said Mr Coleman.

Probus is a worldwide organisation, with branches in the South Pacific, Asia and the UK, that aims to provide a range of entertaining activities for older people to enjoy.

“It’s a very social organisation where you can meet people, be social and have lots of fun together,” said Mr Coleman.

The next bus trip planned for April will be to the Frankston sand sculptures, which will be followed with the Mornington market. The months that follow will feature a trip to the MCG museum and the flower show in Melbourne.
